Trusting God

One of the most prominent themes of scripture is to trust in God, especially in times when it becomes difficult to do so. We will experience unexpected hardships in our lives, and it is crucial for our spiritual health, that we continue trusting God as the Bible encourages. Here is my testimony about trusting God and may it inspire you when you need it the most.

I had been working for a truck company for twenty-two years. My responsibilities included driving an eighteen-wheeler tractor trailer up and down the major highways. This job made it possible for me to feed my family and ensure that all the bills were paid. After a while, I began to experience some health issues in my body. I tried to keep working but the pain was unbearable! In the midst of this pain, I kept trying to fulfill my obligations to the job and as head of household. One night, I fell asleep at the wheel on a major highway. I awoke in the middle of the road, with no idea as to where I was or how I got there - GOD spared my life!

The doctors informed me that I could no longer drive trucks, due to the medical condition in my body. Therefore, I applied for short term disability in which I was denied. Remember, I had been a faithful employee of this trucking company for twenty-two years. I felt that they had turned their backs on me. And because they denied me short term disability, I was not eligible for long term disability. But GOD! After being hit with this devastating news, they then canceled my insurance! But late in the midnight hour, God turned it around! The long-term disability department sent me to see two additional doctors in Florence, South Carolina.

Three weeks later, I received a letter stating there was not enough evidence to prove I was eligible for assistance. Well, I thought it was over. But, God said, “NOT SO!” The very next week, I received another letter from the disability company. I thought it was a check compensating me for travel pay, until my wife saw the amount. She began to praise God! I give all the praise and glory to God for His goodness and mercy. And, to think that I almost gave up because of all I was going through. But God showed me who He is and how I needed to trust Him and not my situation. I am learning, no matter what it looks like, believe and trust in God.

Proverbs 3:6: Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding.

Psalms 28:10: The Lord is my strength and my shield; my heart trusted in him, and I am helped: therefore my heart greatly rejoiceth; and with my song will I praise him.

Psalms 46:10: Be still, and know that I am God: I will be exalted among the heathen, I will be exalted in the earth.
