A Psalm of Praise of David...

I will exalt you, my God and King, and praise your name forever and ever. I will praise you every day; yes, I will praise you forever. Great is the LORD! He is most worthy of praise! No one can measure his greatness. Let each generation tell its children of your mighty acts; let them proclaim your power. I will meditate on your majestic, glorious splendor and your wonderful miracles. Your awe-inspiring deeds will be on every tongue; I will proclaim your greatness. Everyone will share the story of your wonderful goodness; they will sing with joy about your righteousness. The LORD is merciful and compassionate, slow to get angry and filled with unfailing love. The LORD is good to everyone. He showers compassion on all his creation. All of your works will thank you, LORD, and your faithful followers will praise you. They will speak of the glory of your kingdom; they will give examples of your power. They will tell about your mighty deeds and about the majesty and glory of your reign. For your kingdom is an everlasting kingdom. You rule throughout all generations. Psalm 145:1-13 NLT

I would like to reference verse 4 and the word “let.” The meaning is commanding. Let - not prevent or forbid; allow, permit, give permission to, authorization to, sanction to, grant the right to, license to, empower to, enable to, entitle to. This is a very essential statement as to maintaining a continual certainty that the source of all being will be made known, His reputation will never cease - forever. One of the definitions says to empower to; give each generation the unhindered ability to tell of who He is and what He did for them. As we read the scriptures, it is very evident that the manifestations of His love, power, grace, faithfulness and even His anger drew you in and you wanted to experience more of Him. This is precisely the reason for David’s heartbeat in this psalm of praise. He does not want the works of this God to be abandoned and forgotten or lost in a generation – a time period. Example of a repetitive reputation: Medical doctors are one of the top priorities of human kind. It is a very common practice to seek out their reputation. Men and women want to know how well their performance and success rates have been with previous patients. They want to know their knowledge base, communicative skills and the likelihood of their surviving the worst of conditions, under their care. Usually physicians are needed according to the particular condition at hand. It is very clear that the LORD GOD, according to David, is well able to handle anything. David wanted it to be known that his LORD GOD of the universe's reputation is indisputable. He emphasized that it MUST be shared – NEVER stop telling about all His mighty acts. This is the main reason for our testimonies; they encourage, excite, energize faith and give hope. Regardless to how the enemy tries to shut down the testimony of the LORD, it has remained reputable through generations. We are commanded to bless Him forever and “let” the next generation know of who He is. The price is too costly not to keep the truths of the LORD marching on.
